  • The Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA is thrilled to announce the launch of a groundbreaking $4.4 million campaign, "Another Century of Service," aimed at rejuvenating and expanding the beloved community facility. The campaign is set to usher in a new era for the YMCA, making it an even more inviting and transformative space for community members. Comprised of two essential phases, this ambitious campaign will address critical needs and elevate the quality of services provided at the facility. Today, we gathered the community to announce that we already raised $1.6 million toward phase one! Phase One ($2.4 Million): Enhancing the Member Experience The initial phase of the campaign, with a budget of $2.4 million, will focus on transforming and revitalizing several key areas of the YMCA. Renovations include: 1. Locker Room Upgrades: A complete overhaul of the locker rooms will provide our members with modern and comfortable facilities, enhancing their overall experience. 2. New Children's Playground: A state-of-the-art playground will offer a safe and engaging space for children to play, fostering their growth and development. 3. Steam Room Enhancements: Improvements to the steam room will promote relaxation and well-being for members seeking stress relief and recovery. 4. Upgraded Cardio Space Flooring: The installation of new flooring in the cardio space will create a more comfortable and efficient workout environment, supporting the health and fitness goals of our members. Phase Two ($2 Million): Expanding Our Reach The second phase, with a budget of $2 million, is set to fund the construction of an additional gymnasium at the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA. This new gymnasium will enable us to provide more opportunities for sports, fitness classes, and community events, making the YMCA an even more versatile and inclusive community hub. Shoutout to one of our generous donors, KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, for bringing the 2024 trophy to our public announcement today! To contribute to the "Another Century of Service" campaign visit https://lnkd.in/griKvvzb today! A HUGE thank you goes out to all that have already contributed!

We would like to wish the YMCA of Greater Michiana team a happy International Women's Day! Our fun fact of the day is the 9 of our 13 leadership roles are held by women! In 2023, roughly 30% of women held leadership roles within an organization while men represented the other 70%. This means that the YMCA of Greater Michiana surpasses the average by having 69% of our leadership roles held by women - WOW! The photos below showcase the strong women who hold these leadership roles. Thank you to all of the women that are a part of team YMCA of Greater Michiana - We don't know what we would do without you! 🩷 1. Denise Peters - Chief Operations Officer at Camp Eberhart Director 2. Jill Haboush - Chief Development Officer 3. Morissa Beckman - Director of Marketing 4. Sammee Schaller - Senior Aquatics and Sports Director 5. Monica Norton - Senior Healthy Living Director 6. • Jill Haboush - Chief Development Officer
(Pictured on far left)

One fun fact about Jill: I was a farm kid, so I grew up driving tractors, 3-wheelers, dirt bikes, and snowmobiles. I’ve also been skydiving! 😊

Why Jill Loves working at the Y: Why I love working at the Y: Organizing and bringing the community together for a fundraising event like the Thanksgiving Day Run is my favorite!
    • Denise Peters - Chief Operations Officer & Camp Eberhart Director
One fun fact about Denise: I was All-American for Basketball in high school and I was the first chair trumpet player.

Why Denise loves working at the Y: Because I love people and I get to see a variety of people every day and it fills my heart with joy. The YMCA has such a positive impact in the community and I am filled with gratitude that I get to be a part of it.
    • Morissa Beckman - Director of Marketing

One fun fact about Morissa: I started an upcycled clothing business in college called Kissed by Riss. I would take used clothing and transform it into a new, one-of-a-kind piece.

Why Morissa loves working at the Y: I love working at the Y because I get to help market for things that matter in our community such as childcare, providing scholarships to those that can afford programs or memberships, and overall healthy living. I am so grateful to work in an environment where I can build relationships and have meaningful conversations with extraordinary people.
    • Sammee Schaller - Senior Aquatics & Sports Director (Pictured top right)

One fun fact about Sammee: #1 on my bucket list is to visit every National Park in the US. I think I have been to 18 and plan to visit two more at the end of March.

Why Sammee loves working at the Y: I always said that if I came back to Niles after College (I graduated from the University of Kentucky) that I wanted to be in a position where I gave back to the Community I grew up in. I feel I am able to do that with the work we do at the YMCA. Our core focus at the YMCA is Community and am so grateful to work at a place that stands for that. Every decision we make is based around the Community. 🙂
    • Monica Norton - Senior Healthy Living Director

One fun fact about Monica: I played in the softball college World Series
