Inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy and confident!

About us

Girls on the Run is an after-school program designed to inspire girls of all abilities to recognize and embrace their inner strength. Our lessons focus on building social, emotional and physical skills in girls while encouraging healthy habits for life. Each season comes to an end with a joyful and fun non-competitive 5K. This culmination gives girls a tangible sense of accomplishment, setting a goal-oriented mindset into motion that will provide her the confidence to be the author of her story. Girls on the Run Michiana trains and supports volunteers to serve as role models to the girls after school through coaching a 10-week, 20-lesson curriculum in schools and community centers. Mission: We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Vision: We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Coaching for Girls on the Run Michiana for the last two years has been incredibly rewarding. 🌟 As a mom of boys working in the corporate world, it’s helped me grow way outside of my comfort zone. 🌟 As a remote worker, it’s given me a reprieve from isolation. 🌟 As a runner, it’s allowed me to pass the love of this sport on to others. 🌟 As a woman, I’ve been able to support and build up these young girls through the curriculum. Navigating schedules isn’t always easy, but, I’m grateful for flexibility that allows me to make this work each year. Today I set up our practice 5k route, snuck into an art classroom to take an important work call, and then went straight to our team practice! Making a switch from executive level conversations to 4th/5th grade conversations so quickly had my brain turned all the way up! 😉 It was worth the fast transitions, though, because today was such a confidence booster for our team; they’re ready for the official GOTR 5k! Race day is open to the public and a link to register is in the comments if you want to join in the fun. #girlsontherun

  • 🙌 Meet Myrnetta Daniel, one of our newest board members! She's enthusiastic, passionate about supporting young women, and always on the move. Please welcome her to Girls on the Run! 🗨 Q: Share your first Girls on the Run interaction, and how that experience has kept bringing you back. ⭐ A: My first experience with GOTR was a few years back during a 5K race for Fleet Feet at Central Park in Mishawaka. l was very much intrigued by the GOTR booth, with all the fun colors they had on display, so l went to inquire about it. I really liked what l learned that day about Girls On The Run. Last year l was very proud to be a Sparkle Runner at the GOTR 5K at Potawatomi Park. 🗨 Q: What inspires you about Girls on the Run? ⭐ A: The curriculum-based program for girls to make meaningful connections with other girls, and at the same time helping them to discover creative ways to recognize their inner strength and potential. I also love that the program ends with a 5K run, which promotes exercise. 🗨 Q: What kind of impact do you hope to make as a GOTRM Board member? ⭐ A: I hope to be supportive and further the GOTR mission by contributing my time and skills as needed.
